Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Murphy. They don't end up trading him.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I don't see Murphy being traded, at least not unless the Mets sign Jose, and probably not even then.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I mean, it makes a lot of sense to trade high on Murphy, when you have other Tejadaish options for 2B that are better defensively and Murphy hasn't shown he's gonna be a high OBP or a 15-20 HR guy. Also Turner, Valdespin, even Satin on the 40 man.
Guest attgig Guests Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 i can see them trading murphy. there's little confidence that murphy can last a year on 2b without getting himself spiked and dl'ed. I hope they bring back someone who can contribute in 2013/2014.and who's on second? turner if reyes is gone (most likely). Tejada if we have our ol ss back.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 not sure I'm sold on Tejada as the 2B though. But there may be cheap FA options too.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 If Reyes doesn't sign, and Havens survives ST/the season's first right weeks, don't you kinda have to give him a whirl in the service of resource evaluation?

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Bob Murphy? I'm pretty sure his best days are behind him, no?
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Reyes or not, I'd trade Wright before I'd trade Murphy. He's much cheaper, under control for longer, probably a better defensive third baseman at this point, no slouch at the plate while Wright is no guarantee to return to his All-Star numbers, and in spite of all that, he'd most likely get us less in a deal.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Free agent at 2B in 2012Murphy becomes a fulltime utility player for someone for the rest of career.
