Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 So, between the bases-loaded DP last game and the last diving stop... Cabrera's, like, pretty decent with the glove when he tries and crap.

Of course that dive registered on the Richter scale throughout the upper mid-west but it was an important play. And we have a series now.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 [u:b5u163n4]GAME 4[/u:b5u163n4]And we'll start off the game with a rain delay.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 And it's an official game in Detroit, as the rain continues to fall.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 And through the raindrops, the Rangers take the lead in the 6th.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 themetfairy wrote:And it's an official game in Detroit, as the rain continues to fall. They'll do their damnedest to play full games and full games only, as per house genital organ Torre during the ALDS.Hey! In-GEE!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 Except that there's no such thing as an "official game" in the post season as they'll simply play them all to conclusion even if they have to go to the next day.Oh, and Inge just tied it.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 Leyland looks like he's going to lean on the Benoit/Velverde combo for the 3rd straight night. That duo has gone 2.0 & 3.0 innings over the last two games.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 Well, we don't KNOW yet that he'll stick him in there, but I'm assuming since he's already gone to Benoit that he won't hesitate to lean on Valverde also.Meanwhile, Texas intentionally walking Cabrera [u:28f8kzy9]with none on and one out in bottom 8th[/u:28f8kzy9] looks like it's going to backfire on Ron Washington as Martinez singles to make it 1st & 3rd.IOW, it'll probably be Valverde time soon!!!
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Didn't like that walk, gotta trust Adams there.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 WOW, pop fly deep-ish to RF and Cruz guns down Miggi at the plate and it wan't even close..what an arm.Miggi of course is slower than a wet week in Ireland.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Still at it in the 11th.Valverde is fun to watch.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Como se dice "Country Time?"
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Cruz may have just sealed series MVP.Both managers were guilty of misusing the intentional walk, but Leyland paid for it.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 [Yanquifan]Long time, first time .... Hey this Cruz guy for Texas is clutch, do ya think the Rangers will take ARod for him? ... How 'bout if we throw in a coupla prospects and pay some of his salary? ... and we could throw in Andruw Jones too![/Yanquifan]
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2011 Author Posted October 13, 2011 [u:2sevaqyw]GAME 5[/u:2sevaqyw]:Tigers pinning their hopes for survival and a return to Detroit on Verlander - although the Rangers have already hit him up for 2 doubles and a run in top 1
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2011 Author Posted October 13, 2011 The AL - like the Good Rats - are takin' it to Detroit.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 When they took the lead in the sixth, the Tiggers did it on a natural team cycle, with a single, double, triple, and home run in sequence. For a guy who had Jack-Morris-on-a-bad-day stuff (he got tagged for a bunch of loud strikes, and could have given up three HRs to Beltre alone), Verlander pitched a man-sized game.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Leyland got away with some questionable managing in the 9th. Coke certainly looked out of gas and was facing lefty-killer Mike Napoli, but Napoli grounded out.Which begs the question: if three straight baserunners and Napoli as the go-ahead run up at bat weren't sufficient to pull the plug on Coke, why were the other guys even warming up?Personally, overworked or not, I think Valverde ought to have come in and gotten the last out. Either he's your best guy, or he isn't. He'll have four months to rest.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 What I didn't quite get: if Benoit and Valverde were off the table, and Coke needed relieving, wouldn't that still leave, like, five other bullpen arms for Leyland to use?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Yabbut, those are apparently the relievers who are behind the "break glass only in emergency." I think Leyland could've used Al Alburquerque if necessary.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 Gwreck wrote:I think Leyland could've used Al Alburquerque if necessary.Providing it can be proven that he really exists first.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Yeah, c'mon. Who's next? Sam Francisco? Minnie Apolis? Let's stop clowning around and talk about real athletes here.Somebody logged on last week and wanted to talk about "Joe Montana"? What's with all these jokers?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2011 Author Posted October 15, 2011 [u:17or1sug]Game 6[/u:17or1sug] -- If Texas keeps scoring and this 3rd inning never ends (both of which seem entirely possible right now) can Detroit claim that they didn't really lose the series on account of a conclusion was never being reached?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 I heard that Derek Holland totally had sex with Stacy Linberg in his van by the water tower right after the Molly Hatchet concert last Thursday, then TOTALLY ditched her when she went to the woods to clean up. What a total bufu.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 It is not looking good for the Tigers.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 It's looking a little better for the Tigers. Or rather, less bad.I like both these teams, really; I really kinda wish that THIS were the World Series.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2011 Author Posted October 15, 2011 2nd game in a row where the mgr has yanked the starter with a lead just one out short of qualifying for a win (LaRussa did it last night w/Garcia when he had a 3-run lead w/2 outs in the 5th).In a way it's kind of refreshing to see.
