G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Caught a note in ESPN NY's daily Mets news roundup that today is Edgardo Alfonzo's birthday, which didn't sound right to me. His commonly listed birthday is November 8, but baseball-reference and Retrosheet have it as August 11. Of course what we refer to as 8/11 is referred to almost everywhere else as 11/8. My guess (and I sort of remember this maybe coming up here before) is Fonzie's birthday was transposed for years and, post-9/11, when everybody got nervous about proper ID, this type of thing got corrected.Still, November 8 is listed most everywhere but the aforementioned sites (which I trust more than most everybody else).Either way, 38th happy birthday sometime this year to my favorite Met position player ever.

Even after all these years of being here , coming up on 17 years this September 10th I still have to think at times about writing dates, and to really confuse things in my job we use a German made machine that of course has Day/Month/Year when you enter birth dates. ...except 9/11 of course....
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I always figured it was the year in Fonzie's birthday that was in question, not the date.
