Two semi-interesting series this week

- Brews @ Cards for three games
Milwaukee comes in with a 3-game lead in the Central and some bad blood coming off the previous series between these two. Pujols hit, Braun thrown at in retaliation, etc.
Marcum vs Jackson to start things off.

- Angels @ Yanx
Probably won't mean much in the end, but the loser of the ALWest basically has the only chance of battling the AL East loser for the WC .
Right now the Yanx have a 7-game lead on the Angels so it'll have to be a sweep to put a scare into the Bronx.
Unfortunately the Yanx are only going to see one of the Angels' 'Big Three' hurlers as Haren goes tonight but they'll miss both Santana & Weaver.
On the other hand the Yanx 'Big One' (Sabathia) won't pitch in this series either.

In his last outing, AJ Burnett was handed a [u:3l9p0hff]13-1 lead[/u:3l9p0hff] by the 3rd inning but couldn't last long enough to even get the win as he was pulled in the 5th having already coughed up 13 hits.
So now in this game, with Haren holding the Yanx to one run, the fucker is shutting out the Angels thru 5

... ooops, a Bobby Abreu HR leading off the 6th ties it up as I'm typing.

And just as I start to bemoan AJ suddenly finding religion he reverts to his normal self by giving up three more two-out runs before the inning is over.
4-1 LAA heading for bottom 6

In a way, this bugs me.

I kind of want Burnett to go on a nice, monthlong tear in which he cinches a postseason rotation slot... in which he inevitably explodes.

Always a nice thought.
But if it's not him in the post-season rotation it'll be some combination of Garcia and/or Colon and one of these days one or both of those dudes are going to wake up an realize that their combined age is a two-digit number that starts with a 7 and that their combined weight is a three-digit number that starts with a 6 and are going to revert to pumpkins.

Nothing a good shot won't fix. I'm sure Jeter has something hidden in his mansion somewhere.

Stupid Yankees tied the game too.

Wouldn't it be something if the LAAofA swept these three games to cut the MFYs WC lead from 7 to 4?

Wouldn't it be something if the Core Fore all combine to sabotage this season?

After last weekend, I assumed that sort of thing just wasn't allowed.

That's what I want. The MFYs don't have the pitching depth to make it unimaginable.

I guess they're figuring that he's the tying run so you need to get him into scoring position (it was 1st & 3rd) but GEEZ you can't get caught off there.
That play is in Muffy territory.

Angels are having a good second half. They looked turrible when we saw them.

HA! to the MFYs losing and HA! to FK's comment. Lets see if Kay rips Granderson for not being smart the way he rips Murphy.

Arizona coming back against Houston. Hang in there, 'Strohs! I'm tuning in to the Atlanta game.

Buffalo lost in extra innings. I listened to the end of the game. Bottom of the 11th, one out, runners on first and second. The ball is hit back to Mike O'Connor on one quick hop and he THROWS TO FIRST. The announcers couldn't believe it, a sure 1-6-3 DP and he's out of the inning. Instead, he walks the next guy to load the bases, followed by a grounds rule double (credited as a single because the batter stopped before touching second). Game over, thank you for coming.

Yuchhh.
F-Mart had two hits and played right field, so his legs must be feeling ok again.

There's room for him here.

Well, unfortunately, with Acosta going down, there's more room for O'Connor. Hopefully, if they make a move, they go to Thayer instead.

Bravery takes the lead in the 11th. Marlinage looking to answer in the bottom. Stanton up.
