bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 The trailer is out: Video WWW.FACEBOOK.COM Featuring Jonah Hill as "Peter Brand" who is based on/sort of like Mets VP Paul DePodestahttp://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ti-depodestamoneyball080510
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 a friend of mine produced it. He let me read early drafts of the script, which i gave him notes on. the later drafts were polished by Aaron Sorkin. I didn't see those. But a mutual friend saw an early screening and was disappointed in it. i'll reserve judgment and hope for the best.
Guest attgig Guests Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 i loved the trailer. pretty eager to watch it now... should i read the book first?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 You should have read the book when it was your assigned CPF homework assignment!Looks kinda OK to me[youtube:udeg35o1]AiAHlZVgXjk[/youtube:udeg35o1]

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 It's such a quick read, too. (Liar's Poker and most other Michael Lewis books are similarly quick, engaging reads, and worth a look.)
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 With Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Art Howe!

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Good book. #1 thing you learn is that you're thankful Strawberry dropped in the draft, because if the Mets had gotten stuck with Beane over Strawberry..yikes.I'll see the movie. It'll be particularly interesting to see which parts of the movie are taken out of context and twisted to mean something completely wrong about what Moneyball is/was.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I'm not so sure if they'll twist and/or misrepresent the facts so much as they'll over-simplify things. Even in the brief trailer there are a few of those apparent.
