Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Mr. Eating Clubs vs. Mr. Innings-Eater. Can we make it an actual winning streak? Keep this hitting/airtight bullpen thing happening? Keep on dancing to the rock and roll... on Saturday night, Saturday night?

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Its Dillon Gee as Chris Young comes up lame.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 I suspect Gee will get all the work he wants this season.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 He must come from Texas CIRCUS folk-- he's been living on tiptoe tonight.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Fucking Canuck. What's that, 4 LOB?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 I'm blaming that run on the combined negative mojo of Guys! and George Foster. (Really, man-- your shitty play was due to the Mets' "not being ready to win?" Go eat your mate or something.)

Can someone explain to me what exactly the problem with Burkhardt is? (No, seriously. I don't get what people have against him).
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Crisis can lead folks to attack within. Meanwise, George Foster looks like $1,000,000.He's a 1982 Met. There are 2002 Mets who aren't in shape that good.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 George Foster did seem at all like the moody ballplayer I remember
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Seems like we went to the pen prematurely.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 The timing/length of the in-game pieces is suspect, and there's often an inordinate amount of praise for opposing players who are doing well during a particular series. Also, his understanding of the game can be poor and almost ostentatiously (willfully?) "jock"y. On another note, Mike O'Connor comes to the plate like he's made out of 3-foot-long 2x4s and C-clamps.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 "This episode of 'Willie Harris: Met Killer' is brought to you by Revlon. Revlon, for when you need to be caught looking... good."

I agree he praises opposing teams' players too much but it would be disingenuous to call Burkhardt out on that without also calling Darling out for the same thing.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Talk about praising the opposition. Listen to the radio crew. I don't get a lack of understanding of the game, either. I mean, Gary and Ron are sitting here this inning scratching their heads over the notion of Hu being removed from the roster. Who's going to be the backup shortstop? Who's going to provide late inning defense?Maybe the guy who they replace him with. Back to you, guys.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Did Gary just call Jerry Stiller "George Costanza"?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Yep. I am of the mind that Seinfeld is one of the most wildly overrated television shows of all time but even I know that's not right.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Igarashi sure seems to be throwing with confidence.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Well he got the first two guys (three, with the error) with efficiencey. It took me two or three tries to submit that post, and now he's walked the seven and eight hitters.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Surprised to see him stay in and face Sands.Frank Costanza must be getting antsy waiting for that third out.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 hilarious , the cameras zoom in on Chip Hale who looks like he's having the worst day ever, head shaking the lot , then he turns around and starts jawing to Igarashi's interpreter.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Jerry Stiller: embarrassing. Extremely embarrassing.
