I can imagine a 1970 infieled of 18 letters with Foy/Weis/Foli/Shamsky. I don't know if that ever happened but there's a good chance it did. I do know Cleon Jones didn't play any first that season, which would have given them a chance at 16.

Never happened. Weis and Foli not in the same lineup.

Get Bay, Pagan, Duda, Thole and Gee in the same lineup and you've got optimal efficiency. Or save on letters.

Told ya.

Rasputin supported the czars, comrade.

Pelf untouched through two.

Wasn't going for Bolshevik Russian, necessarily. (And the aesthetics/cult-of-personality thing seemed to fit.)

Pelf does appear to be working with the good shit today-- 3 GOs and a soft liner to SS through two.

Ross dives, grabs Bay's sinking liner and can't hold on. Shucks for him.

Yay for Bay.

And Cody can't get to Davis's hit. Shucks to be him again.

First and third...

Leadoff double, Davis single, no score... this all feels a bit familiar.

Run-scoring grounder to third turns into DP but the key here is run-scoring. Good for Ronny.

Hairston walks and after a moment of scratching his head in confusion, heads to first.

Pelfrey's strike zone proves too large a target for Sanchez. First and second.

Two guys on, and they have to come after Reyes with Hu on deck.

Assuming Sanchez can come after Reyes.

But not as much as Hu just got paid for striking out.

Hu not in there for his defense.

You can't spell Murphy without Hu.
