bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Good stuff on Gee here:http://proxy.espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/20515/gee-i-wonderGee stays, Carrasco to Buffalo to become a starter.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Of course sticking around doesn't guarantee Gee a spot in the rotation. With Pelfrey, Niese, Dickey, Young (activated as Carrasco is demoted), & Capuano (plus a day off tomorrow) there doesn't seem to be a seat at the dinner table for young Dillon.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 One one hand, I think I'd rather send Gee back to Buffalo and give him steady innings than jerk him (or one of the other 5) back and forth between starting and relieving. On the other hand, Carrasco's an easy guy to demote because of his contract, and he might benefit from working through some issues in AAA.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Alderson mentioned something about eight to ten days in the pen for Gee, didn't hear what was after that.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 I dont' particularly mind the jerk between the rotation and the pen. I imagine Gee doesn't either.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Silly question: How does DJ Carrasco have options?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 He doesn't, but he has a two-year contract so it's a safe bet that he clears waivers.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 yeah, I think one of the benefits of not signing any "name brand" relievers was that it helps with flexbility and it seems like they're going with a "fill the spots with guys that can pitch" philosophy. I'll be interested to see how Collins uses it with Gee.
