Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 19 pitches, 19 strikes. Is there a split squad? I'm just following it on Gameday.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Away game, so...A couple of strung-together singles and an (apparently) air-mailed throw from Duda aside, Niese's handling a pretty potent lineup-- sans Adrian Gonzalez-- nicely: 6 K, 0 BB, 4 H, 2 R (1 earned) over 4.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Niese Looks good, and Lester giving up a lot of hard hit fly outs, ball not carrying
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 I left in the throes of optimism, come back to discover Niese gave up 5 runs in 5 innings.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Only one ex-Mets and one Brittany Spears straddling 2B.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Hey, pitchers get hit. Niese doesn't have that funky a windup, or ridiculous movement on the fastball, so he's not immune to this. What he's got, though, is 17 Ks in 16.1 innings and just 4 BBs (4.25 K/BB) in 4 spring starts. He keeps doing that, and a breakthrough year's in the offing.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Also, in less happy news, Mike O'Connor did let an inherited runner score-- the first of 6 he's had handed him this spring.THE RACE FOR SECOND:Castillo: DNPEmaus (DH): 1-4, 1 RHernandez (SS-2B): 0-4Hu (3B-SS): 0-3Murphy (2B-1B): 1-4, BB, R, RBIAnd, For Your Consideration:Turner (3B): 2-2, bases-loaded 2B, R, 3 RBI
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I sense that Turner has a real opportunity here, if he can take advantage of it.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Turner, unfortunately, is the only one with minor-league options remaining.

Also, I'm told (by a random waiter who saw our Mets stuff) That all the Wilpons ate their earlier. They tipped _very_ well, but not as well as in years past.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Rather than focus on the misplay, I'm looking at the ad in the back. Is it a Hooters ad?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 cropped it for the misplay. here's the full shot.
