The Last Play at Shea on DVD

Outstanding documentary giving the ol' ballpark and its longtime team-in-residence the love it and they deserve (plus some music*) now available for home viewing. Reasonably priced at Amazon. Highly and objectively** recommended.

*Quite awesome, too, but if your tastes don't run that way, don't be put off -- well worth it for the Sheaness and Metsness.

**I provided some historical research and make a ten-second on-camera/audio appearance, but don't be put off by that either.

Just watched it!!

I thought it was going to be a concert movie, but it's pretty much concurrent bios of the Mets and Billy Joel -- with a surprise highlight coming around the 1:06.00 mark!

Magnificent. I got all weepy throughout the whole show.

Loved the Pete Flynn stuff, loved the McCartney arrival, got weepy again at the footage of Shea coming down, and the Piazza post-Sept. 11 homer and Mookie and Tom.

Very Metly, very Long Island, very New York. I could show this to my friends here and they wouldn't get a moment of it. But they get all weepy over Bob Seger and Grand Funk, so I guess we're even.

Wonderful.

I was at the penultimate concert (the one with Tony Bennett). The energy that night was simply incredible.

I thought if they would have taken out all of the Billy Joel stuff, it would have been a great short documentary of Shea. No offense to Joel fans.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Mostly because there was much more about the stadium and much less concert footage than I thought there would be.

I missed above that Greg was in it and was happy to see him.

I enjoyed it very much, especially liked that Pete Flynn was recognized, laughed at Piazza's Irish accent but wonder what will Pete do now that he is fully retired from the Mets.(he is right?)

I was surprised I think that Howie wasn't in there(his voice was IIRC). No sign of the Wilpon's, nice, hard not to like Joel's enthusiasm, very cool to see our own Greg representing.
