metirish Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 From UMDBA single mother, with dreams of becoming a writer, has a son at the age of 15 in 1965, and goes through a failed marriage with the drug-addicted father.Gotta say I enjoyed this more than I would have thought. There is something about flashback movies to the 60's/70's.... A very solid cast and Steve Zahn I thought was great as the loser husband and father, so good that he makes Ray a loser that you are constantly rooting for....Barrymore in a good role here too.....a little on the sentimental side but it would be hard not to be.As an aside.......there are scenes shot in City Island that are meant to be somewhere in CT......at least I think so anyway....
