metirish Old-Timey Member Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Collins on the WfanIf youre going up against me, you better be ready, because were gonna be ready for you.Dunno , but I'm hearing AC/DC's Thunderstruck right now.....
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 I was a little disturbed that he kept referring to his "intenseness"Not as disturbed as I was at the questions propagating the negative and false stereotypes about the Mets and some of the players. And I turned it off for 'singing'.I think Collins hinted that one of the reasons Perez didn't go down is because he didn't respect Manuel enough to believe he had his best interests in mind.

He talked a lot about "process" and going about things the right way.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 I think he almost has to say some things about the past because the team is making a big show about how the new regime will do things differently. While they can't help idiots like Jeff Pearlman taking cheap shots at them, as he did again this week, they're going for total image makeover. To do that you need to show what will be different, at least during the off season. Once the season start, winning commands a little more respect than the talk.

Once the season start, winning commands a little more respect than the talk.He did say, and specifically mentioned Jerry here, that he wasn't going to talk about the past in spring training with the players. That previously they'd gotten too hung up on correcting what went wrong the previous year. He also mentioned David Wright in this regard in responding and adjusting to the lack of power in 2009.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 I don't think Pearlman is an idiot. He strikes me more as bitter and miserable --- almost broken. It's strange. I never knew so many of these cheap-shot artists playing shallow angles for the masses they hate --- I never knew them when they were young and had engergy and curiousness and well... journalistic standards. I never knew Dick Young when he was "the new breed."But I knew Pearlman and read his stuff, and I'm started to get a picture of the process by which bad sportswriters happen.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted December 1, 2010 Author Posted December 1, 2010 Quotes guys, we need quotes, to live by if possible, or I suspect in the case of Pearlman not to live by.
