I'm curious about the role of Lou Gorman, appointed a vice president, player personnel in 1980 under the new Doubleday Group owners. I'm pretty sure in that capacity, he worked under Frank Cashen, and not vice-versa, but that his role was pretty large, as the current GM model of one-guy-in-charge-of-procurment wasn't as concrete, and serving (I think) through the 1983 season. I doubt there was any competition, on the other hand, as he served under Cashen with the Orioles as well.

Anybody recall more precisely how their roles were initially divided before Gorman went to Boston and Cashen was left to fly solo?
