Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 SCHAEFER METS PLAYER AND PITCHERS OF THE MONTH, AUGUST 2010The Schaefer Mets Player of the Month and Pitcher of the Month for August 2010 is JOHAN SANTANA. This is the second time this season that Johan has won both awards; he also did so in May. Santana was 2-4 in August, with a 2.72 ERA in 6 starts. He had 3 complete games, including one shutout, and his 47 strikeouts led the team. It wasn't a good month for the Mets, but it was a good month for their starting rotation: four of the top five players in the Schaefer standings for August were starters. (R.A. Dickey finished second, Jon Niese third, and Mike Pelfrey fifth.) The leading offensive player was David Wright, who finished fourth overall, most likely on the strength of his 4 August home runs. David hit only .225 in August with a .286 OBP and a .392 slugging percentage. And the Schaefer Mets Relief Pitcher of the Month is a first-time winner, and former starter, HISANORI TAKAHASHI. The Mets' middle-aged Japanese rookie pitched to a 1.59 ERA in 11.1 innings over 10 games. He also had 2 saves. Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Tak still finished behind the scarcely used Luis Castillo. I guess part of that is how un-used the relievers were.Great work. Shea looks great.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Outstanding graphic work. I'm trying to remember when there was an Ameriquest ad in the left field corner. AIG had that spot, made famous by Endy, from '06 to '08. 2005?Love Takahashi getting the Tim Redding Shea treatment. Funny thing is Johan actually did pitch at Shea (as the patch confirms for those with short memories) but design requirements seem to have him superimposed, too.I'm thinking the starting pitchers dominating the top spots so heavily has to be a Schaefer monthly first.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Well, that stands to reason, doesn't it?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I guess the bats took the month off.And Dillion Gee gets Johans next gig.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2010 Author Posted September 16, 2010 Didn't really like the original Takahashi card, so I redid it.
