Thanks Oh, but wait.[Comment From Jim: ] Isn't it interesting that when Carlos finally comes back the team goes into a tailspin. What effect is he having in the clubhouse? Is Francouer disenchanted and giving up his role as team leader? I'll go double or nothing, renally, and wager that Jim's made at least a couple of "Los Mets" jokes in the last few years.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 Andy is not having any of it thoughThere is no correlation between Beltran's personality and the Mets losing streak. I mean, come on, are you kidding? Were Takahashi and Pelfrey spooked by the new centerfielder, causing them to leave their fastballs over the plate? Did K-Rod say, "i'd save this game, if only that Beltran weren't out there." Geez... Tuesday July 20, 2010 2:48
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Yes, I guess it's better when the columnists are exasperated by the mental acuity of the fans rather than the other way around, but as a fan, I'm not a little embarassed.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 [Comment From Amit] Do you think there is any team that would be willing to trade for K-Rod? Mets could rid themselves of his salary and maybe get a nice player or two in return. There has got to be some team out there that still thinks this guy is good. They are not going to win any World Series with K-Rod as the closerK-Rod, for his flaws, is the best reliever the Mets have. You, sir, are being irrational. It always amuses me when fans are so sure that K-Rod/X Player is complete trash but think a GM wouldn't be smart enough to realize it and would accept him in a trade. Like it's a secret analytical power only Mets fans have.maybe amuses isn'tt the right word.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I guess some of these guys are 11 years old, but how do you fall into the trap of the notion that K-Rod is useless/is worthless/sucks/is disposeable, but, you know, at least they got rid of Wagner before him, and Looper before him, and Benitez before him, and Franco for 15 years before him?

Geez...Castillo is a hard-working guy who plays hurt and is generally respected in the clubhouse. Beltran is a great player, and the team in better off with him.Good for him on those questions anyway. Most, if not all, of the FAN hosts would have simply accepted the caller/writer's words as truth without even questioning them - and that's all assuming that the host didn't initiate the line of thinking in the first place making you wonder which is the ventriloquist and which is the dummy in the whole arrangement.
