metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 The setupBy Sports EditorThe Mets are clinging to life in the NL East and seem to be on the verge of falling out of contention. Being spectators in the Cliff Lee sweepstakes didn't help matters, either. Can they make a run at the playoffs or will they fade down the stretch? Andy Martino talks all that and more.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Not really a chat. I'm guessing Martino will spew venom.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Tommy Tracksuit seems to get a rise out of being intentionally pessimistic about the Mets. Rubin was better in the Snooze.I'm gonna fire a few a few questions at him.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Heard him for the first time doing a drop-in on 660 a couple of weekends ago.Let's just say that for a Rochester native, the timbre of his voice sounds very, very at home on the 'FAN.Which is to say, it eats at your inner ear like a corrosive.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 Pushed back to 2pm.......probably busy looking at himself in the mirror.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Manny Jeruel has a few interrogative irons in the fire.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 Jerry You Bunt bunted his question over
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Chicks Dig The Tracksuit has submitted a query.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I think he must be trapped under something large.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 He's probably punching himself in the head for taking questions he'd already answered on the twitter feed placed right next to the chatbox.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Mitch45, way to represent.Salty Parker Stevenson is locked in.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Blahblahblah, other teams have better minor leaguers to offer, blahblahblah.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 It took 2 minutes to type this:He's in Buffalo. Still young, posting underwhelming offensive stats.Fans ask the dumbest questions. Why not look it up?

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Who in the world would trade for Barajas? Um, your wife?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Edgy DC wrote:Who in the world would trade for Barajas? Um, your wife?I hear the echo of Gary Cohen looking at all Barajas's Home Runs early and wondering why it took someone so long in the offseason to sign this guy. I think we may have figured it out.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I thought that question deserved a better response. There are a lot of teams looking for a catcher now and not all of them will succeed in acquiring the one they want.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 (edited) As did I. Glib, one-sentence answers don't come off nearly as clever when it takes you 3-4 minutes to type each one. (Not to mention their lack of actual cleverness.)And hey-- he took one of mine! (The crappy one, natch, but still.) Edited July 20, 2010 by Guest
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Agreed. The point of the wifey comment was really about him choosing to be obnoxious instead of thoughtful.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Your mom's obnoxious instead of thoughtful.(Looks around for someone to high-five)

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I bet a kidney the "chemistry" questions get his longest response so far.(And I'll bet the other one that "Possible" considers Beltran "unclutch.")
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Is it Possible the return of Carlos Beltran, Luis Castillo, and Possibly Oliver Perez are ruining the vibe in the clubhouse. Before the Break the Mets would win one then lose won win won then lose one. Now i feel like they Win one then lose 2 or 3; is it possible? UGH!

Beltran is a great player, and the team in better off with him. Perez isn't back until today.Good thing I've still got the other one.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Yeah, come on. There's always the wild card and shit.

Tuesday July 20, 2010 2:33 Jerry You Bunt 2:35 No, it's not like they're going to start breaking up the roster for prospects. You don't really do that in New York unless things are really, really bad.Ten games out is really really bad.

You don't really do that in New York unless things are really, really bad.Ten games out is really really bad.I think he meant if like Jose Reyes grew a third arm that reduced his running speed. But we were "supposed" to be 10 games out after the Yankees and Phillies series in May. This type of explosion is just so unlikely where the Mets are completely unable to win another game and Atlanta never loses.
