Guest Kong76 Guests Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 At the time of this writing the team we love sucks. They suckreally bad. We know your job is difficult, and that we have theluxury of six replay angles, but can you please not hover overa play at a base and get it so blatantly wrong and prolong theagony that we're already experiencing?Thank you,The Pool
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Did any particular call draw this, Kase?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I think this was triggered by the non-DP call on the line-out in the first inning of Saturday's game. While Maine absolutely dug his own grave there, if he gets that call he may very well have gotten out of the inning (next batter K'd prior to a two-run single) and it could have been an entirely different ballgame.Ditto Sunday if Wright catches the flip on the bad bunt and turns that DP.But that's the way things go when you're going bad, minor setbacks - whether your fault or not - blow up into huge messes. The number and pct of two-out runs the staff has given up recently is proof enough of that.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 The total lack of accountability for umpires is an abject failure on the part of MLB and one the first things I'd rectify if I were commissioner.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Maybe it wouldn't have mattered anyway, but the bad call at 1B early tonight on GMJ's swinging bunt changed things from a 1st+3rd/1-out situation to man-on-3rd/2-outs. Even with the pitcher coming up - maybe especially with the pitcher coming up - that could have screwed us out of a run or three.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
