Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 British hijinx week at the Lunchbuckets began with this fantasy about the guy who tells the world's first lie. I'm going to spoil it below:Complete piece of shit..
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Thanks for the heads up , not sure if I could take a whole movie of Ricky Gervais.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Jim Carrey's Liar Liar was better and that movie was insipid. In this one, the conceit is that nobody ever lies ... until one guy does! And wouldn't you know it, he happens to be a shlubby but goodhearted guy down on his luck! And he pines for a girl out of his league! And the girl has a handsome rival suitor... who's also his co-worker! And you would NEVER guess, but the lying part quickly spirals out of control!I wanted to die. Other than the few chuckles you get while the deadpan conceit plays out ("You look terrible today") this was almost unbearable.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I'd wanted to see it, as it sounded like a fun concept, but that's generally the response I've gotten from people that have seen it. It was good for a handful of jokes and the rest of the movie sucked.
