Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 For those of you who missed Gary reciting this very odd stat during the game;... the Phils have now won 10 games against the Mets this year and had a different winning pitcher in each one of them. And in case you're wondering:Jack Trachner (his only win of the season)CH Park (one of two ex-Mets)Scott Eyre - one of his two WsRodrigo Lopez Jamie Moyer Joe BlantonJA HappPedro MartinezCliff Leeand now Kyle Kendrick in what is his only win of the seasonI don't know if that's a "record" but I can't imagine there have been longer streaks.btw, the 6 NYM wins have been by Pelfrey x 3, 2 by Santana, plus Feliciano's win on Saturday
Guest vtmet Guests Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 I didn't research it, but I'd imagine that those 3 Pelfrey wins are all in NY...Pelfrey has been a pretty solid pitcher in CitiField this season, but horrible on the road (which IMO can be a danger with a quirky, pitcher's park...your pitchers learn that they can get away with somethings at home, and forget how to pitch outside of the friendly confines of home...just like some of our "lefty" hitters with decent wheels have done a great job with the vast R/C field gap in Citi, but haven't done as well on the road, ie Pagan/Sullivan/Murphy/Castillo, and yes I know 2 of them are switch hitters)...
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
