metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Hard to believe except we can see why every night
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Strangely I don't feel like he's a lot worse right now than earlier in the year. You might recall he was hitting 370 on a stupid rate of batted-balls-to-hits, lately it seems he's been smashing it hard to right and right center only to have 'em find gloves.I think on balance he's having a poor year, with the good worse than it is and the bad only slightly better.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2009 Author Posted July 27, 2009 The trip to Houston made for some improvement for our boy:his July batting line now "up" to .218/.322/.295 w/6 RBIs & 18 KsBut Luis Castillo (middle name: much-maligned) on the other hand:[u:37bi497t].391/.487[/u:37bi497t]/.469 w/8 RBIs & 2 Ks- not that a .078 IsoP number (essentially the same as Wright) is all that much to write home about but we are grading on a curve here.Plus his season-long OBA now stands just two ticks below the .400 mark -- give it up for the lad
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Give it up for him by batting him leadoff and Pagan second.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Still the hacks will write Castillo's name any and every time a what's-wrong-with-the-Mets story needs to be written. Not to defend the acquisition itself but Castillo from the start of the year has been at the very bottom of any list detailing what's wrong with the Mets.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Except the day of the Drop --- which will be used to validate any bad thing written or said about him for the remainder of his contract. If not his life, poor guy.
