NYT on Banner Day Bandwagon

Didn't CPF promote the idea of a virtual Banner Day a couple of years ago? NYT has just thought of it.

The ability to catch pop flies. In 1978, the annual Banner Day let Mets fans have their say at Shea. Post a comment or submit your design for a banner you would display at Citi Field. We�ll publish readers� submissions on Friday. But what�s also missing is Banner Day, the annual on-field parade that allowed fans to comment, with humor, on the Mets� often miserable state of affairs. Back in 1993, for example, Banner Day was a nice antidote for an incomprehensible season in which the Mets finished 44 games under .500, threw firecrackers at fans and sprayed bleach at reporters. �Still Experiencing Technical Difficulties. Stand By,�� read one banner that day. �We Bought Season Seats. Why Are You Here?�� read another. The Mets discontinued Banner Day and have no plans to revive it. But The New York Times has decided to step in and provide an online, virtual version of the actual event. Have a thought, maybe humorous, that sums up the 2009 Mets? Post it here.
