Being in Seattle all those years I didn't see him enough to form my own opinion but I kept hearing/reading all winter about how Ibanez wasn't a very good fielder.
The guy's been terrific every time I've seen him this season and that goes for non NYM games too.

="Swan Swan H"]OK fellow Mets fans, learn me something here.

Keith referred to the bunt Cora just executed as a 'drag bunt.' I was always under the impression that a drag bunt was to the pull field, and a push bunt to the opposite field. I would refer to Cora's bunts during both of his ABs tonight as push bunts.

Am I wrong, or is the hair dye seeping into Keith's cerebellum?

I believe "drag bunt" refers to any bunt aimed at getting the batter on base performed while the batter is starting to run.

My thinking is that drag bunts are down the line --- either line --- as opposed to push bunts, which you thy to get past the pitcher, usually toward the secondbaseman.

I assume this isn't the notorious Michael Milken in the booth here, correct?

Oh yes it is.
Minus the rug he used to wear in his high-rolling days.

I appreciate that he's working on his redemption, and he's probably been hitting the booth for years, but you've got to appreciate Wilpon still willing to work with financier/con-man after one of them robbed him blind.

I believe Milken had a bout with prostate cancer not long after his prison release. He then got in on the awareness thing soon after and has been a front-man for it since.

Oh man, Mr Wright.
This park playing like Fenway?

Balls don't springboard off the Monster like that.

I always thought the motion of the bat informed the nickname - when you push the bat forward, the bunt would go to the opposite field, but when you pull, or drag the bat inward the ball goes to the pull field.

Endy's game winner is the best example of the drag I can think of - he dragged it with him down the line.

I appreciate everyone's thoughts - obviously there is no clear-cut definition, and we've all heard different references over the years.

Now, if I could only get people to stop referring to 'Eastern Standard Time' during Daylight Savings Time...

Hey, Sam Perlozzo, you're in the wrong uniform.

Man, 70 Ks for Howard. That's a season.

Tim Redding just became a Met.

I'm gonna have to play reverse Hangman with Redding.
He's earning back body parts.

Every night brings another bad call. I know these guys are human but they're getting way too many calls wrong. I'm reading "As They See 'Em" and the umps, in general, are so sanctimonious about their role in protecting the integrity of the game. Fine. I get it. Now get the calls, or at least almost all of the calls, right.

Two more to pass Wright for the league lead.

Shit.
I'm not too thrilled about pitching to Stairs there.
His ground out ties the game.

Not to come into the game I hope , it's a cold night so maybe that's why he's warming up.

Pitching to Stairs. Playing back. Sticking with the starter. Jerry is a cool cat tonight.

"Go ahead, tie the game."

I don't really wanna see Green in there tonight myself, unless its extras and we have to go there.
Shirley not at this point.

Um... was there a quick pitch call in there?

Doesn't he have to, like, tell him he's making that call?
