Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Oh man, Mr Wright. This park playing like Fenway?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Being in Seattle all those years I didn't see him enough to form my own opinion but I kept hearing/reading all winter about how Ibanez wasn't a very good fielder. The guy's been terrific every time I've seen him this season and that goes for non NYM games too.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 ="LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr"]="Swan Swan H"]OK fellow Mets fans, learn me something here.Keith referred to the bunt Cora just executed as a 'drag bunt.' I was always under the impression that a drag bunt was to the pull field, and a push bunt to the opposite field. I would refer to Cora's bunts during both of his ABs tonight as push bunts.Am I wrong, or is the hair dye seeping into Keith's cerebellum?I believe "drag bunt" refers to any bunt aimed at getting the batter on base performed while the batter is starting to run.My thinking is that drag bunts are down the line --- either line --- as opposed to push bunts, which you thy to get past the pitcher, usually toward the secondbaseman.

He then got in on the awareness thing soon after and has been a front-man for it since.

Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I always thought the motion of the bat informed the nickname - when you push the bat forward, the bunt would go to the opposite field, but when you pull, or drag the bat inward the ball goes to the pull field.Endy's game winner is the best example of the drag I can think of - he dragged it with him down the line.I appreciate everyone's thoughts - obviously there is no clear-cut definition, and we've all heard different references over the years. Now, if I could only get people to stop referring to 'Eastern Standard Time' during Daylight Savings Time...

I know these guys are human but they're getting way too many calls wrong. I'm reading "As They See 'Em" and the umps, in general, are so sanctimonious about their role in protecting the integrity of the game. Fine. I get it. Now get the calls, or at least almost all of the calls, right.
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Another f-ing 7th inning rally.
