bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Do you have tickets for the Mets hosting the MFYs on June 28? Were you looking forward to a Sunday afternoon at CF? Perhaps a barbeque after the game and then getting some rest before going back to work?If you weren't going, were you looking forward to hearing Gary, Ron and Keith, the best announcing team in baseball, call the game?Well, either way, you are SOL. The game has been "picked up" by ESPN which means an 8:10 start and an evening with Steve Phillips and Joe Morgan (Jon Miller is no match for those two).Plus, the Mets have to travel to Milwaukee for a night game on Monday so that means hearing that "the Mets didn't get to their hotel rooms until 4 AM."
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Ever wonder if ESPN paid off the firejoemorgan.com guys?Or maybe they chilled them with legal threats for all the content they copy and paste.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 (edited) I knew it was too good to be true. I don't particularly care for going to theMets/Yanks games the last couple of years and a night game is out of the question. If anyone wants two LF prom tix at face ~ $55 for the pair lmk. It's certainly possible, though I doubt it. Their posting frequency had slowed considerably by the end, while the content they occasionally posted hadn't lost its bite, so I doubt they were threatened. I'm definitely inclined to believe in their motives and assume they wouldn't be paid off, but that's only because I felt they were genuine in their disdain of poor sportswriting. Plus Ken Tremendous had a kid near the end, which tends to sap up the spare time.Admittedly, none of these points is proof of anything, but it's a long way of saying I'd be surprised.soupcan May 28 2009 08:24 PMC'mon - you can't be surprised at this.OlerudOwned May 28 2009 08:37 PM="Number 6":3n9alb3y]="Edgy DC":3n9alb3y]Ever wonder if ESPN paid off the firejoemorgan.com guys?Or maybe they chilled them with legal threats for all the content they copy and paste.[/quote:3n9alb3y]No, but now I am. I kinda wish they _had_ bumped the july 5th game and scheduled the makeup for the day. I want to catch a game there this season and hitting two for the trip seemed like fun. (It was in '07 for sure, we swept it)bmfc1 May 29 2009 09:47 AMYou're right, Ceetar. I guess ESPN didn't want the Mets/MFPs on July 5. MLB could have had a day/night DH on July 3, as they did in '07, but the MFP's have a night game out-of-town the night before. The way the schedule stands, if it rains all day on September 13 and 14 (both teams are off on the 14th), there will be problems. I wonder why they didn't use the open day of Sept. 14 for the make-up (perhaps it would have run afoul of the rules concerning number of consecutive games).
