A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Watched this one yesterday and liked it. An American company is oustourcing one of its phone sales departments to India. One of the guys getting squeezed out goes there to get the new place up and running. At my current job, I deal directly with the IT departments for two very large call centers in Bangalore, so this one was maybe a little cooler for me.It's kind of like that Tom Selleck movie "Mr. Baseball", where the stubborn American goes to a foreign country, is unaccepting of their culture and customs at first, and then finally embraces it.Except it's good.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Big shot Americans go overseas and try to big league locals, before coming to appreciate their culture as perhaps under-rated:OutsourcedMr. BaseballThe Last SamuraiThe Air Up ThereThe MatchmakerLocal HeroThe Coca-Cola KidRocky IV
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Yeah, we dug this OK. JG doesn't steer a brother wrong. It would have worked as a bigger movie. Thankfully, I guess, it wasn't, though the lead guy (great name, "Josh Hamilton") was no big whoop. No real depiction of the enormity of Indian poverty either. It should have been called "Holiday in Goa." It doesn't really have much to say about outsourcing.
