Guest AG/DC Guests Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Did nobody hear the radio broadcast two nights ago when Wayne or Howie commented about seeing "Domo arigato, Mr. Delgado!" on the scoreboard with "I don't speak a word of Spanish, but..."How cool is it that the Mets have someone running the boards and music capable of making clever semi-obscure pop references like that? How lame is it that the Mets have someone in the booth ignorant enough to explicitly miss them?
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Actually, it shocks me that the immortal Chris Majkowski did not catch that error by Wayne and Howie. he's well schooled in 80s pop culture, supposedly.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 I didn't hear it but if that were Howie I got to believe that he was having a laugh and that he knew it was Chinese.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 I wouldn't call it "lame" but I was surprised that Howie missed that one given the plethora of pop culture references that he uses (e.g. Office Joe Blanton).
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Yeah I was listening to the radio when Howie made that call. I'm surprised Hagin didn't pipe in since Stynx was so big in the sticks."Domo Arrigato? Well, tonight's the night they make history!"
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 I would have liked to have heard Murph's response to this.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Edith Bunker's response: "I didn't know Carlos Delgado was Japanese!"
