Guest sharpie Guests Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 For the second year in a row I havent left time to do a proper KTE. Next year, I nail it.The Giants currently sit in third place, 5 games out of first. Not too bad you think until you realize that the Dodgerbacks who share first place are one game under .500. That puts the Jints at 39-50 although they are 22-22 on the road and are a terrible 17-28 in their cutesy home field which keeps changing its corporate name. They were picked for last by everybody in the picking business but thats because no one expected the NL champeen Rockies and the near-winner Padres to bite the big one this year. The matchups:Tim Lincecum (10-1, 2.49, 122 strikeouts and 47 walks in 115.2 innings) vs. Mike Pelfrey. Yeah, hes The Freak. Read the other thread about him. Kevin Correia (1-5, 4.91) vs. Johan Santana. Correia hasnt won since April 10th.Jonathan Sanchez (8-4, 3.87, 109 strikeouts in 107 innings) vs. John Maine. Some say he might be pitching tomorrow instead but Im sticking with this perhaps incorrect matchup. Sanchez, along with Lincecum and Matt Cain are the main reasons one would go see this years Giants. The pen features former Beach Boy Brian Wilson who forms (with Lincecum) the Giants All-Star representatives. Here are your 2008 starting lineup Giants:C: Benji Molina (6-53-.293). Another pretty good year for the best of the Molina boys. Allegedly, the slowest player in baseball and the least likely cleanup hitter around.1B: John Bowker (9-37-.278) who platoons with Rich Aurilia (8-35-.284). Aurilia just got his 1,500th hit. I have nothing of any interest to say about John Bowker.2B: Ray Durham (3-29-.293). Has always seemed like a future Met. Might still be.3B: Jose Castillo (6-28-.261). Somebody finally dislodged Pedro Feliz. SS: Omar Vizquel (0-9-.159). Still can field. Can no longer hit at all. Also getting a lot of playing time is Emmanuel Burris (9-7-.298).LF: Fred Lewis (6-26-.286). Can run a little. Replaces Barry Bonds who he will never be as good as.CF: Aaron Rowand (8-37-.300). Phormer Phillie who knows Sheas wall well. One of Wrights competitors for that bogus last All-Star slot.RF: Randy Winn (5-36-.292). Hes still around. Can run a little.Ex-Met: Tyler WalkerEx-Giant: Moises Alou (who may be reactivated sometime during this season but mebbe not.)
