Guest AG/DC Guests Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 What in the world happened to Ricky Poe?
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 He should've signed with them long-term.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Even in that super first year, though, you can see scouts moving away from him a bit. He got a ton of hits, but his isolated OBP is .050 and his isolated slugging is .096 --- no eye-poppers there. No steals, neither. Then in 1983, he takes the mound, throws five near-perfect innings, but no more. And that's understandable, because by then he was hitting like a pitcher, though only getting 97 plate appearances.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 It's funny, sometimes when I look at those old minor league stats, my heart skips a beat and I think, wow, this guy looks like he could be good. And then an instant later I realize that 30 years have passed, the player is around 50, and that I'm not looking at a future star. What led you to dig up Richard Poe's stats?

Then I realize all they can do to help us to show us where we went wrong. Then I log on here and ask stupid questions.
