Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Crane Pool hotshot and MBTN creator John Cougar Lunchbucket on audio interview at http://1560thegame.com/ at 12:30.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 So far these louts are making me want to spit.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 OK, the regular host is having a sober interview with an author. Better.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 We're running over. Will Lunchbucket get bumped?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I hope not , I am skipping lunch and tuning out of my Dublin station for this.........
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Cool, 'Bucket got credit for Silverman's other work.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 And Justice fucks up from the get go.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Bucket put on the spot about Willie....
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Yup. And while he didn't throw him under the bus, he gave him a good view of what that bus looks like.Bucket doesn't like going off topic.
Guest Triple Dee Guests Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I thought he would have been a bit more diplomatic -- "until Memorial Day". Ha ha.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Well that's it.I hope he gets a few bimbos out of this.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Goos job Bucket , nice that you didn't forget who wore what ....
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I was hoping he'd mention how blue my eyes are.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 nervewracking! You know the very 1st "interview" I did on this topic was with an Internet radio show where they had technical glitch just as I began and it ruined the whole thing. So I had a heart attack when he botched the intro, and maybe I shoulda let it be, but that woulda bothered me the whole time.Takashi Kashiwada? wow
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Did I hear Bucket Jr. at one point , or you saying something to him perhaps?
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Actually, you recovered his botch well.Listen, I don't know how many more of these you have scheduled, but take the two interviews and consider where they caught you off balance and type up some talking points. Add in a few points about what you want to hit no matter what they ask you. Write down the Vonnegut quote. (I don't know if you heard the Tom Jones interview, but when he mentioned that was inspired by Studs Terkel, Justice wanted to tear his clothes off right there, so enamored was he to get a sports writer who had such high literary standards.) If another guy asks about tributes, you'll be ready if you want to bring up Willie Randolph paying tribute to Boswell. Not that the Stork story wasn't cool, but you shouldn't have to grab. The art of steering the dicussion toward what you enjoy talking about isn't so hard, and the hosts often like that. You'll be golden.Great job.

Regarding the Boswell/Willie thing, I was prepared to do a long rant connecting Casey to Hernandez to Piazza by uni numbers but didn't get the feel that it woulda flown.I thought I did a better job of describing the origins of the project this time than most. There's no way to be prepared for Kashiwada.I head a little bit of the Tom Jones interview. He was great!
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Yeah, that's what I mean. I don't care whether you work your Willie in or not. Only hope to save you some um-uh-you know time before grabbing for the Stork. Not a bad grab, though.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Yes, you definitely got more comfortable once the focus become the book and the website.I did notice the nervousness at first, but that may have been because I was subconsciously looking for it, knowing how I'd probably be in that situation. If I was just a regular listener I would have had a different perspective, you're a book author doing a spot and I probably wouldn't have picked up on anything at all. (EVERYONE does um's and ah's. Some more than others, but everyone does it.)
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Buzz Bissinger doesn't um and uh. You should have told Justice he was full of shit before he said anything. That's good theater.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Is the interview going to be archived? I was out earlier, but I'd love to hear it.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 It's here already , http://1560thegame.com/page1_sub.php?id=153
