Guest sharpie Guests Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 I know there was another article posted at some point about Figueroa's t-shirt sideline but here's a nice piece about him from the NY Observer:http://www.observer.com/2008/now-starting-mets-nelson-figueroa-king-quadruple
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 He sounds like one of those guys who could have gone to Japan and been good but was just a slice below the cut here.
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 I was just checking out his stats on Baseball reference and spotted an interesting name (to me) on the most similarity by age score: Hal Goldsmith.I knew Hal Goldsmith: he taught for many years in my school; everyone knew him as "Goldie." Never had a class wit him -- he retired before I got to high school (our school was K-12). He used to talk about facing Babe Ruth, though it would have had to have been in spring training, since he pitched in the NL.Interesting connection.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Is Figueroa the first Brandeis graduate to pitch in the majors?
