Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Hey, whoah. Jonathan Malo: .186 / .255 / .225 // .480.Social promotion doesn't do anybody any good.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Yeah, I'd prefer they'd call up a clubbing firstbaseman and move the Murphis platoon to third, but that guy doesn't really exist. I guess Evans is the closest to fitting that bill there is.Yeah, recall Evans.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 From the time I first saw his name on the Buffalo roster, I've had this feeling that I'd be seeing Mike f'n Lamb with the big club this year.At least that still hasn't happened ..... yet.Later
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I've liked Lamb. Professional hitter, pretty poor in the field but willing to fill in anywhere for Houston all those years, so they always had a body to step in when a guy got hurt. A problem with him was always that he was a lefthanded batter who tended to hit lefties hardest. Hard to figure out what to do with such guys.He seems about done, but he's 34. That's two years older than Green, but he's done far more in his career than Green ever has.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Yes, but as you said, he's Mike Lamb.Like you, I would have preferred Evans (or another hitter with some pop).Later

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 We are denied Met Number 50, as we instead get a returnee. And again, I'd've preferred another hitter and to see some of Murphy at third.Alex Cora has been effectively disabled for months.8/18/09Added to 15-Day Disabled ListPurchased from BuffaloInfieldersCoraValdezYour 2009 New York MetsStarting PitchersParnellL. Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Well, we went a whole day without a transaction, but we've got 2009 Met Number 50, and here it is not September yet.I hope you are bending your minds around my idea of giving Stokes a few starts, because until otherwise announced, it looks like a not-quite-savvy-enough Tim Redding, inspiration for the "Disaster" thread. is our new member of the rotation.8/20/09Unconditionally ReleasedMoved from BullpenActivated from Disabled ListStarting PitchersRelief PitchersL. Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Got to hand it to Takahashi. He doesn't look 40.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Guys named Ken age differently.I probably would've preferred him to Redding this summer. Probably woulnd't have mattered either way.
Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Why send Misch down? They could just bring up Ken next week.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I think they're running the show scared, and after needing eight innings one night from their pen, they felt they needed to be ready to tap them for eight more the next day. It doesn't help when they pull Tim Redding after 81 pitches in the best start of his season.Instead, it's Misch who gets recalled next week.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Misch and Evans have been recalled.

One think about Bobby Vee was, if they brought a guy in from another team or up from the minors, he was in the lineup that night almost every time. Jerry apparently doesn't know where to play Evans apparently, not knowing he's mostly played third base in his career and the Mets are third basemanless.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 While you seem to mean Murphy, I'm with you there. Jerry doesn't seem to read his callups' calling cards.Say goodbye to the table, lads. It may be going the way of the dodo.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 He's only gotten a very few games there since his roookie year.http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=evans-001nic
