Holy crap! Andy F. Green.

By my count, he'll be 2009 Met number 49.

More to the point, he's old, and a known entity.

Whither Shawn Bowman, or Malo?

Hey, whoah. Jonathan Malo: .186 / .255 / .225 // .480.

Social promotion doesn't do anybody any good.

Well, at least he's not Argenis Reyes. He has that going for him.

Yeah, I'd prefer they'd call up a clubbing firstbaseman and move the Murphis platoon to third, but that guy doesn't really exist. I guess Evans is the closest to fitting that bill there is.

Yeah, recall Evans.

From the time I first saw his name on the Buffalo roster, I've had this feeling that I'd be seeing Mike f'n Lamb with the big club this year.
At least that still hasn't happened ..... yet.

I've liked Lamb. Professional hitter, pretty poor in the field but willing to fill in anywhere for Houston all those years, so they always had a body to step in when a guy got hurt. A problem with him was always that he was a lefthanded batter who tended to hit lefties hardest. Hard to figure out what to do with such guys.

He seems about done, but he's 34. That's two years older than Green, but he's done far more in his career than Green ever has.

Yes, but as you said, he's Mike Lamb.
Like you, I would have preferred Evans (or another hitter with some pop).

Out goes Cora, in comes Wilson Valdez.

We are denied Met Number 50, as we instead get a returnee.

And again, I'd've preferred another hitter and to see some of Murphy at third.

Alex Cora has been effectively disabled for months.

Well, we went a whole day without a transaction, but we've got 2009 Met Number 50, and here it is not September yet.

I hope you are bending your minds around my idea of giving Stokes a few starts, because until otherwise announced, it looks like a not-quite-savvy-enough Tim Redding, inspiration for the "Disaster" thread. is our new member of the rotation.

Yeah, that's what we need --- another reliever, so we can inexplicably use six tonight.

Guys named Ken age differently.

I probably would've preferred him to Redding this summer. Probably woulnd't have mattered either way.

I think they're running the show scared, and after needing eight innings one night from their pen, they felt they needed to be ready to tap them for eight more the next day. It doesn't help when they pull Tim Redding after 81 pitches in the best start of his season.

Instead, it's Misch who gets recalled next week.

All people age dufferently. But that looks like Takahashi's Bar Mitzvah picture.

Well, this has been an interesting day. September is coming early.

Maybe it's been a here a lot longer than I realize.

Heard onm the radio that Josh Thole has been called up and will be joining the team in Denver tomorrow.

Word from Jerry is that Thole will likely be used exclusively against righties.

Minor-league OBP vs. righties: .394
Minor-league OBP vs. lefties: .392

I don't like Jerry's word.

I'd be surprised if The Schneid even takes a seat. One think about Bobby Vee was, if they brought a guy in from another team or up from the minors, he was in the lineup that night almost every time. Jerry apparently doesn't know where to play Evans apparently, not knowing he's mostly played third base in his career and the Mets are third basemanless.

While you seem to mean Murphy, I'm with you there. Jerry doesn't seem to read his callups' calling cards.

Say goodbye to the table, lads. It may be going the way of the dodo.

No I mean Evans, also a 3Bman for most of his career, and hasn't seen any action since his recall.
