metirish Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Interesting read and MLB will be taking a close look.A minor-league pitcher named Randy Newsom is selling shares of his future earnings. Should I invest?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Good for him, but I don't imagine it will help his employability. Not that he'll get blackballed, but I'm guesseing if a team has to choose between two similar players, they'll go for the guy who didn't have the audacity to allow the team to put off his earnings.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 i have no problem with this, its like taking out insurance against sucking or having a career ending injur on Newsom's side. on the buyer's side its kinda like a stock (though maybe closer to gambling.) only thing that would concern me is people involved with the game (umpires, managers, GMs, or worst of all arbitrators) buying into one of these things
