One of your more controversial movies for reasons that have little to do with the content. The director cut and re-cut and was ready to go back and do some re-shooting when the studio took the film away from him and asked Norton to finish the edit. The director, Tony Kaye, sued to stop the release. When he couldn't he sued New Line for not letting him use the pseudonym "Humpty Dumpty." (He sued for $275 million!)

When the film came out, critics didn't get his issues, and they told him the film was pretty good, and asked him why he worked so hard to disassociate himself from it. He'd just shrug and say, "Good is the enemy of great."

So, I know that stupid skinny, but I've never seen the film. Ms. Edgy has a crush on Ed Norton and has rented most of his films, but Nazis of any stripe scare her. Freak her out and give her bad dreams.

Norton and the kid are both good but too many things bugged me. He goes on about family and then attacks his sister; his indoctrination via his father seemed too pat; the prison "friendship" was hokey; the girlfriend (who was really great) going from loving him one minute to wanting to kill him for changing his political views the next was over-the-top. Two and a half outta five.
