Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Anyone remember that story linked where the badly beaten guy claims Pratt was in on a bet to limit the scoring?
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Is it really a bad beat? The only chance for him to win there is a home run with a man on base.Ventura hitting the ball over the wall was like drawing a miracle straight on the river. Pratt stopping him was his opponent showing a better straight.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 The grand-slam was a one in maybe one-thousand play. But once the ball went over the wall he had won ... until a one in a billion play turned it around.THAT is a bad beat.I personally LOVE hearing stories like this, particularly when they occur to gamblers who KNEW what was going to happen.
