Mets by the Footware: Pony

Pony were prominent enough on the early- to mid-80s Mets that I was certain that it was official footware, worn by some (in my memory at least) in blue with orange stripes. First Met I remember in Poes was Neil Allen. Can't find any shots of him with him in them now, but the other thread shows Whitham capturing the beginning of an all PonyMets team:
