Suspended Animation

Captain Red Ass is invited to yell at himself in the mirror, as he's been suspended for two games, scheduled to begin during tonight's game against St. Louis.

Prediction 1: He appeals, delays the onset of the suspension, and it gets cut to one day.

Prediction 2: Mets call up Mike Di Felice, because he's easier to pass through waivers on the way back down.

Why doesn't he just get it over with?

Two reasons

1) You can often get these things cut in half by appealing, particularly when it's a he said/she said kind of thing.

2) It takes a week or two for an arbitrator to rule on an appeal. If their advisor tells them, "Dude, no way you're winning this one, or even get it reduced," you can drop the appeal and begin serving when you wish, against a weak opponent or on a night when you were scheduled to take off anyhow.
