Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 (edited) That's a nice relay team in the OF ... just don't drop the baton!! Edited May 13, 2007 by Guest
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Gomez got the head shaved before the game.......
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Perez having a tough time throwing strikes, but comes back nicely to SO Hall.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Top 1: Ollie works around a leadoff walk on 2 FOs and a K.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Attention Jose Valentin, please report to the platoon desk immediately upon your arrival.OK, maybe I'm exaggerating, but Easley's sure made the most of his few ABs
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Strong north wind today (trust me, I just came in from a bike ride) which usually means a tough day to get one out of Shea. Ollie taking advantage of that by serving up 5 fly balls over the first 2 innings and letting the track stars chase them down.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Carlos Gomez with a double down the 3rd base line. Nice way to kick off a career.Dude can fly.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Easley looks like the 1997-98 model.
Guest jerseyshore Guests Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Nice to see Perez not fold after giving up the hit to the pitcher

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Gomez making a fine diving catch ,nice play,Gary said scouts have likened his defence to Torii Hunter.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Looks like we got Ollie Jeckle so far today. Now we just need to keep Ollie Hyde away for the next couple of innings
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 ]Gary said scouts have likened his defence to Torii Hunter.Let's wait a while before going that far.Charles Newtown in to pitch for the Brew Crew (Carlos Villanueva)
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I just got in from taking the family out for a late Mother's day lunch. Nice to see that all seems to be going well at Shea.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I hope Oliver gets the chance for the shutout.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 After Gomez steals a base so quickly that the Brewers defense didn't even move, Perez adds an RBI to his Schaeferific day.(And then Reyes triples him home).
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Well, letting him bat in the bottom of the eighth seems to indicate that Willie is going to give him a shot at getting the complete game.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 4 RBI day for Easley, despite J.J. Hardy's really nice defense.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Of course, maybe just wanted Perez to hit as he drives in Gomez from second with a two out single. Then Reyes tries to tire his pitcher by hitting a triple to right center and making Perez score from first.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Beltran piles on with a two run home run.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Great performance by Perez, even without getting the complete game or the shut out. A great series for the Mets. I'm quite pleased with the Mets winning 2 of 3 from the Brewers with the way the pitching match ups fell.Meanwhile, the Pirates are pounding the Braves 9-2 with Pittsburgh threatening in the home half of the seventh.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 ]Gary likened Gomez running to Willie Mays, and he's right,in full stride he looks like Mays.At least then he was just likening his running style to that of Mays -- and he's right, it kind of is. There could be 20 guys in the league right now as fast as Mays was in his prime, but that's a whole lot different from saying that they can play like him and you'll find a defensive CFer as good as Torii once or twice a decade if you're lucky.Speed's one thing but, unless young Carlos is catching balls while doing handstands down in AA there, scouts invoking TH type-of-D need to be sedated before going totally overboard.
