Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 RE: Methead's 1986th post:I'm thinking, "You know, post 1986 should be a special designation," but then I think it's cool that the 1980s are a memorial to Bob Moorhead. Then I check, and it turns out that he died in... 1986! December 3, 1986, to be more precise.http://thedeadballera.com/Obits/MooreheadBobsObit.jpg
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 That's freaky,all signs point towards 1986 having a special designation.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 No, right thread for Meathead's 1986th post.
Methead Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Cool, I didn't know my 1986th was approaching.Moorhead died a day before I turned 14.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I like this bit from Moorhead's wikipedia entry:FactMoorhead made his major league debut with the New York Mets in the franchise's original game played on April 11, 1962, at Sportsman's Park. He was one of four pitchers used by Mets manager Casey Stengel in the 114 defeat against the St. Louis Cardinals. The others were Roger Craig (the loser), Herb Moford and Clem Labine. Thanks for clarifying what you thought about Craig.
Guest iramets Guests Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I've revised the Wikipedia entry for consistency, so now it reads:Moorhead made his major league debut with the New York Mets in the franchise's original game played on April 11, 1962, at Sportsman's Park (that old dump). He was one of four pitchers used by Mets manager Casey Stengel (a doddering idiot) in the 114 defeat against the St. Louis Cardinals. The others were Roger Craig (the loser), Herb Moford and Clem Labine.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Methead,is your user name inspired in any way by Moorhead, obviously it's inspired by the Mets.
Methead Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Nah, it started out as Meathead. At some point I just removed the "a" and became Methead. It has the dual purpose of including the word "Met" as well as the standard "-head" suffix used to describe anyone who's a fan of anything. And now you know... the REST of the story....
