dinosaur jesus Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 ="Frayed Knot"]John Maine is the only pitcher in MLB history who's last name is a State...I bet Dice-man can't say that.Except for Pierre "Frenchy" South Dakota, who pitched in three games for the Indians in 1913.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 ]Elijah Dukes* just hit a laser beam HR and TB leads 5-4 and threatening. What a fuckin' shot that was! This kid hit two HRs off NYY pitching in two games: one into "the black" in dead CF and yesterday's liner that looked like a line-drive single that simply never came down until it was 4 rows deep in the LF seats.Dukes is one of the DRay's seemingly endless supply of talented kids behaving badly crew. He's been suspended by the team more than once for various on & off field transgressions which puts him in good company with: Joey Hamilton (#1 overall pick - drugs ... now w/Cincy), Delmon Young (#1 overall pick - bat throwing suspensions and org-bashing tantrums) & BJ Upton (#2 overall pick - mild insubordination and bitching). So if all these guys can keep themselves out of both the doghouse & the slammer Tampa's going to have themselves an interesting crew. AND they've got the #1 overall pick again this year. Now if only they could pitch.- 6 Yanqui Errors in 2 games ... 3 by Jeter.- GW 9th inning HR by Piazza off of Francisco (K Rod) Rodriguez. His first as an ALer.- Not such a good night for Roberto Hernandez, coughing up a bases-loaded "walk-off" HBP in Chicago

Not to broadly minimize that, but he was an 18-year-old with a 16-year-old girl, and was finally released when the girl couldn't be found to testify.
