John Maine's streak of 26 scoreless innings came to an end, but the Mets picked up the victory and evened the series at one game apiece. Maine left the game in the sixth inning with the score tied at 4. The bullpen trio of Pedro Feliciano, Aaron Heilman, and Billy Wagner combined to pitch 3.2 innings of scoreless relief.

The only thing left to do was to wait for the Mets offense to break the tie, which they promptly did in the top of the seventh. Carlos Beltran doubled to start the inning and moved to third on a Carlos Delgado ground out. David Wright took one for the team to put Mets at the corners with one out. Jose Valentin singled to right to plate Beltran with the deciding run. A Michael Tucker sacrifice fly to left brought Wright home with the final run.

We celebrate the Mets victory with a few pints of Starr Hill Amber Ale from the Starr Hill Brewing Company of Ashburn, Virginia..
