Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Now that's what I call fun. Orlando Hernandez pitched a gem for the Mets. He allowed only 3 hits in 8 innings and if he had received a little better support from his defense, he would have had a shut out. El Duque even drove in the first two runs of his career with a single in the Mets explosive sixth inning. Speaking of explosive, how about Carlos Beltran. He hit a pair of home runs and drove in 5 runs to power the Mets attack. He had some help from his buddies too. Paul LoDuca was a perfect 4-4 with a walk thrown in for good measure. Endy Chavez drove in 3 runs from the eighth spot in the line up.The only concern from today's joyous victory is the status of Carlos Delgado who had to leave the game after taking a pitch off the side of his right knee in the third inning. His status is likely day to day due to a painful bruised knee. Hey we kicked their asses so now let's take their damn beer. Tonight we celebrate with a keg of Tomahawk Amber Ale, the official beer of the Atlanta Braves. Thanks to SteveJRogers for the beer suggestion.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I gotta give props to El Duque. Frankly, I didn't think he had it in him to pitch that well.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 this was a tuff one the way Beltran was swingin the bat--but I always have to lean toward the pitcher when he goes above and beyond my expectations.
