The Mets kicked off the second half of the season with a victory over the Cubs in historic Wrigley Field. Steve Trachsel pitched 6 masterful innings to record his seventh cosecutive victory. Trachsel has been a far better pitcher for the Mets, than most fans give him credit for being.

Jose Valentin moved into the leadoff spot and did his best Jose Reyes impersonation. He just seemed to be everywhere today. Chris Woodaard was robbed of a home run and had to settle for a triple instead. In the end, it didn't matter much, as Eli Marrero drove him in with a sacrifice fly to right field.

So tonight, the team celebrates with a fine local beer, Goose Island Honker Ale.

I think you have to give it to Trax for the strong pitching performance, especially since the offense was pretty widely distributed.
