Five letters

I always kinda liked it that the 1965 St. Louis Cardinals had a lineup in which the first five guys all had five-letter names:

Flood
Brock
Groat
Boyer
White

Later, they would add Tolan, Maris and Torre, but those 5 formed a consistent unit. Can anyone think of a similar lineup?

I liked that the great veteran starting pitchers in the game when I first came on board all scanned the same.

Steve Carlton
Bob Gibson
Tom Seaver
Jim Palmer
Don Sutton

Plus there was Brady Bunch stars Don Drysdale and Joe Namath (a non-baseball throwing guy.) It was just the scansion of the all American pitching dude in my head, long before I ever heard the word "scansion." The problem was that it probably made me think more highly of relative mediocrities like Don Gullett, Pat Zachry, and Rich Dotson than I should have. And probably less of Gaylord Perry and Ferguson Jenkins, and John Candeleria. Where were they going with names like that?

Different sport, but this topic made me think of the Dolphins' Killer Bees of 1984. Nine of the eleven defensive starters for Miami in Super Bowl XIX, plus three defensive reserves, had last names that began with the letter B.

Didn't help against Montana and the Niners.
