Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 With Brian Bannister, Victor Zambrano, and John Maine all injured, the Mets had to look to Norfolk for a pitcher to start today's game. Unfortunately, the best they could come up with was Jose Lima. Lima seemed to be the cure for the Braves ailing offense. If the Braves hitters liked Lima's offerings, they absolutely loved the pitches of Bartolome Fortunato. Meanwhile, Atlanta starter John Smoltz was his usually effective self and he made life tough for the Mets hitters. Not much to be joyous about in this game. Carlos Beltran did manage to homer in his third consecutive game. Beyond that, the Mets bats were pretty quiet and highlights were rare.Still, someone must deserve a drink to wet their whistle. So I propose a case of Pilsen Callao, the most popular beer in the Peruvian capital of Lima. Only problem, someone has to go get it, since it isn't imported to the United States. I recommend the Mets send Jose Lima to pick it up.
