What an awesome game. Words can not do it justice, but for the sake of those poor misfortunate�s that were unable to see it last night I will try. This games had everything a fan of the game could desire; timely hitting, great defense, and some great pitching scattered amid the offensive onslaught. The Mets rallied from deficits on four different occasions before prevailing on over the Braves for their 20th victory of the season.

Trailing the Braves by a score of 6-2, the Mets staged a dramatic four run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning. Reyes singled to center, then moved to third on a ground rule double by LoDuca. With runners at second and third Beltran hit a rocket that was too hot for Renteria to handle at short. It should have been the first out, but as it zipped untouched through Renteria�s legs I knew the Mets were right back in the game. Delgado followed with a single. After a fly out to right field by David Wright, Cliff Floyd singled to score Beltran.. Suddenly it was a one run game with men in scoring position. After a passed ball by McCann moved the runners to second and third, the Braves intentionally walked Xavier Nady to face Kaz Matsui with the bases loaded. Matsui delivered a single to center to score Delgado and tie the game at six.

In the eleventh inning, Cliff Floyd picked up Billy Wagner, who had given up a pinch hit home run by Wilson Betemit in the top of the inning, with a no doubter into the second deck in right field to retie the game at 7 all.

In the bottom of the fourteenth inning, Carlos Beltran walked with one. After a pop out by Carlos Delgado, Beltran moved into scoring position on a second passed ball by the Braves catcher, Brian McCann. He carried home the winning run on a two out, gapper to left-center field by David Wright.

In celebration of the Mets resiliency and determination, only one beer seems appropriate. A case of Pete�s Rally Cap Ale for the team to savor their hard earned comeback victory.


Edited out a double post within this post. Between that and crediting Wright with 23 walks, this poll was seriously messed up. What can I say, it was a long game and my typing suxx..

I voted Reyes, although Wright's 23 walks were impressive.

Cliff Floyd was very timely, and I hope his time has come.
He has long been one of my favorites and it hurts me to see him struggle.
So his homerun was especially sweet.
