Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 2-01 Mets after 7.Darren Oliver just struck out the side.Heilman started and gave up just a solo HR.Mets scored two in the 2nd on Nady single, LoDuca double and 2 sac flies.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 2-2 in the 9th after the Stros tie it in the 8th off 2 errors, including one by P Bascik.Schmoll working the 9th, two guys on, one out.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Did I know that we had P Bascik in camp?

Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Schmoll walks the bases loaded and gives up the game-losing single.Radio announcers said Willie visited him on the mound and was animated, as if he were (announcer speculation here) "nonchalanting."He's not having a good spring.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 That is the Basak in question, and he primarily played shortstop last season at Norfolk, although he also played some second. It's not really that surprising that he'd have a little difficulty at third. Heilman pitched 3 innings, allowing only 2 hits, including the HR, and striking out 3. He didn't walk anyone, but he did hit Biggio with a pitch (marking the 3,400,501 time Biggio's been hit by a pitch). Bannister was even better, pitching 3 scoreless innings, and allowing only 1 hit. He also struck out 3. Oliver went 2 innings, allowed 1 hit and 1 unearned run, striking out 4. Schmoll gave up 3 hits and walked one in 1/3 of an inning, so you can hardly blame poor Basak on the loss . . . 10 K's for our staff today--not bad. Matsui went 1-4 and was CS, Wright went 1-3, Nady went 1-3 & LoDuca went 2-3 with a double. Self went 1-3 with a 2B. All in all, fairly encouraging for our scrubs. Houston had most of a full lineup and Oswalt on the mound, while our big boppers outside of Wright were gone and we threw our #4 pitcher out there.

Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 I was confused, listening to the audio call while working. Yes, Chris "Wicked Game" Basak made the error.

He is not the most accurate at conveying what is going on. Think a sober Harry Caray. He mispronounces names and has, in general, gone massively downhill since his Hall of Fame days.
