Not that black and white are very good descriptors, because they aren't, but if you're going to accept them as legitimate terms, then neither should be mutually exclusive from being Cuban.

The distinction is different in the US from what it is in Cuba. In Cuba, Chico did not have to think of himself being black in the same way that he did here.
