Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 We're taking the kids to see this on Christmas Day (the day it goes into wide release), so I thought I'd start the thread. Frankly, I don't expect to like it as much as I loved the 1968 movie (see the separate thread) or the Broadway Musical (which I liked more than Vic did, but I still didn't like that as much as the 1968 movie). But I'm a completionist, so we're going to check it out.BTW, I've been listening to the soundtrack on AOL. The song that they added to the soundtrack is ridiculously lame - I'm appalled that it has a Golden Globe nomination for Best Song.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 We took the family to an early show today. My expectations going in were pretty low, and I wound up enjoying it much more than I thought I would. The same thing happened to me when I saw the show on Broadway. They set the movie in the same time period as the original movie, and there was quite a lot of homage to the original movie within the musical - it was something of a missing link between the original comedy and the Broadway musical. Sure, parts of it were stupid, but overall I wound up laughing too much not to be engaged by it. It was fun.BTW, stay for the very end of the credits for a cute little surprise.
