Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 there's a good two part interview by a Yankees' fan here that's pretty coolhttp://www.all-baseball.com/bronxbanter/archives/002831.htmlpart two has some good stuff about the Sox, the Doc and Moneyball (this interview I just realized is kinda old)http://www.all-baseball.com/bronxbanter/archives/002828.html
Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 site has pretty good interviews. Here's their talk with Buster Olney, which goes into some interesting stuff about baseball writers, and how their personal affection for Piazza may have influenced their coverage of him, and Bobby V, and Alomar, and other good stuff, including a bit about teams that "give up," a topic on which I've caught some flak from the "How do you KNOW? How dare you even imply that?" squad. Talking about the '92 Mets, Olney says: "The worst thing to cover is a bad, veteran team, because the players are so cynical, the writers are cynical. Usually, the players are not playing that hard, because they are not excited. They probably recognize much earlier than a younger player would, how bad they are. Reading that book, and knowing some of the personalitiesYou know Eddie Murray. At that time Brett Saberhagen [was] definitely immature."http://www.all-baseball.com/bronxbanter/archives/002867.html

Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Here's part II of the Olney interview. Some good insight into the chemistry of certain teams, like the Alomar-Ripken Orioles, whom Olney covered.http://www.all-baseball.com/bronxbanter/archives/015269.html
Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 They do really good interviews. The one with Pat Jordan has some insightful remarks about Clemens' personality, which ring perfectly true.http://www.all-baseball.com/bronxbanter/archives/007871.html
