Paul Byrd has reached agreement with the Indians on a two-year, $14.25 million contract with a club option for a third season, reports FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.
He'll make $14 million for the next two years. The third-year option is worth $8 million and includes a $250,000 buyout. Byrd is passing up a reported three-year offer from the Royals. He'll join C.C. Sabathia, Cliff Lee and Jake Westbrook in the Cleveland rotation.

Where have the Jays been hiding all this money? I wouldn't have thought that averaging 2,000 more people a game than the Marlins could make so much difference.

The GM was promised a whole lot of money for this season, they've been talking since last season about the money they would have, new ownership?

]DALLAS -- Trevor Hoffman will stay with the San Diego Padres, agreeing Wednesday to a $13.5 million, two-year contract that includes a club option for 2008.

The Baltimore Orioles and catcher Ramon Hernandez reached a preliminary agreement on a $27.25 million, four-year contract.

Hernandez hit .290 with 12 home runs and 58 RBI with the San Diego Padres in 2005. The Orioles' 2005 catcher Javy Lopez hit .278 with 15 home runs and 59 RBI.

The deal is subject to a physical and probably won't be finalized until next week.

This signing gave Everett his first-ever UMDB daily title. A real dark horse, Phil Linz, had been leading for most of the day.

Have enough relievers signed for seemingly inflated numbers to allow us to assemble a B.J. Bunch yet?

Like I didn't see that one coming.

True. Just because it's obvious doesn't mean I shouldn't take advantage. Did Ripken choose not to swing at that fastball in his last All-Star Game?

Comedy doesn't work that way.

True. A joke that everyone sees coming is rarely funny.

Put an original twist on that straight line (which is a bit more difficult) and then maybe you've got something.

Maybe we need a poll.

]Maybe we need a poll

Could be. Further analysis:

Is it sophomoric? Yes. Is it sexist? Possibly. Is it an obvious line? Absolutely. Did it make me chuckle when I posted it? Yes. Are we spending too much time discussing it? Probably, but I like to beat things to death and get as many dead horse awards as possible.

I could've gone with HAHA ANNA BENSON'S A SLUT!!!, but I already used that line in another thread.

Edits: grammar and spelling.

BJ Bunch?
Or is the explanation too obvious when discussing Anna?
'Splain please.
