MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I checked the UMDB and baseball reference and neither mentions how the Mets disposed of Sherman "Roadblock" Jones in 1962. Was he released? Sent down? Anyone know? Later
Guest KC Guests Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 He hit the ol' injury roadblock according to this:http://www.baseballlibrary.com/baseballlibrary/ballplayers/J/Jones_Sherman.stm
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 While you're chiling at UMDb, I'm interested in how Mike Torrez became the most popular lookup yesterday.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2005 Author Posted November 15, 2005 Edgy, I wasn't chillin' there. I went there specifically to find out about Jones. As for Mike Torrez being the most popular, I can't come up with a reason (without looking).I looked. Maybe it was a result of a Mets trivia question on another board:Led Mets in losses with 17 in 1983. Led Mets in hits allowed with 227 in 1983. Led Mets in runs allowed with 120 in 1983. Led Mets in earned runs allowed with 108 in 1983. Led Mets in walks with 113 in 1983. Led Mets in games started with 34 in 1983. Led Mets in complete games with 5 in 1983. ****************************************************************KCThanks,Later
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 He was one of those 62 Mets guys who bobbed around in the minors for a few seasons but never resurfaced with the Mets: There were a lot of them (Elio Chacon was another), whom Stengel referred to as "guys who have failed here already."IIRC (and I can check later) Weiss called some of these men up again when rosters expanded in 63 but Casey refused to play them.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I can't tell how Mike Torrez got all of those hits either.Sometimes looking at log files provides a clue, but not this time. However, a bunch of hits came yesterday from this site:http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1723209
